Personalized Gorp Trail Mix

One of the snack ideas that I think would be wonderful to take on day's out in Orlando would be personalized Gorp (Trail Mix) bags. If everyone would like to CHOOSE ONE ITEM to have on hand then each person can add in what they would like.

Some suggestions are:
Cherrios (Honey Nut, Chocolate, Cinnamon..)
Chocolate Chips
Dried Fruit (Cherries, Blueberries, Raisens...)
Nuts (Chasews,..)
Sunflower Seeds

If everyone would let me know what their choices would be I will post them below:

Debbie - Craisens
Leo - Peanuts
Eric -
Brooke -
Leann -
James -
Erin -
Eddie -
Eric -
Margie - Banana Chips
Jeff -
Jordan -
Lucas -
Steve -
Sharon - Chocolate Cheerios
Nicholas -
Emilia - Cashews

New Housing Option

While doing some more research I found this 7 bd house. Although it is not in the "Windsor Hills Resort" area which we prefered. I think the savings outweigh the difference. It is a few miles further from DW and the resort pool isn't as nice imo. But since we are talking over $1000 savings I am voting for this option. And we will all be in one house....Yippee!!

You can check out the resort here.

Kid's Bunk Room

Family Room

The new cost per bedroom is roughly $330. Add in the $100 per person for food (just a guesstimate: will further refine the cost as we get closer to the time and decide how many meals we will be eating at the house) Get your money to Margie asap!

Housing Links

Here are the Links to the houses online so you can check it out more if you like. I tried to post pictures of the living spaces so you can compare and see why I think we need the 6 bd living spaces, but this way you can see for yourself.

6 bed Sleepy's Hideaway

4 bed Brother Bear's Den

Please start remitting payments to Margaret so that we can be sure to book these wonderful homes!

Ok, so I think we have narrowed down our choice for housing. We are going to rent a 6 bd house across the street from a 4 bd house. Even though we only need 8 bedrooms, this will give us more "flopping" space to hang out.

The total deposit is $500. So each bedroom works out to $63 each. I have found out that the earliest we can book is in January, but I still think we should hold to the Nov. 11 for the deposit deadline. The holiday's are going to be really crazy and we want to be able to "book" it the first possible minute.

A few pictures of the 6 bedroom house:

Meal Preparation

We (Margaret and I) were talking last night and we think it would be best if each family was in charge of a day's meals. I figure one family can be in charge of cooking and the another can be in charge of cleaning.

I think we should have quick hearty breakfast's for the day's when we will be out. I found out that we can pack a cooler to take into DW with lunch stuff as long as the cooler is not on wheels and it is less than 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high. So we can pack lunch with us and snacks in a backpack. I figure if dad's in a wheel chair we can hang the cooler off the back of the chair, we'll see.

I am not sure how many day's we will be "out". But my family will take a day when we stick around at the house, we will have a great "brunch" after sleeping in, a light snacking lunch and a great dinner.

Stuffed French Toast
Apple Glazed Meat Medley
Hashbrown Casserole

Veggies & Chips w/ dip
Leftovers from previous meals

Steve's Pasta Dinner
Ceasar Salad
Green Beans
Garlic Bread

Send me your meal ideas, or I can come up with one for you.

Housing Website is the site I have been looking at for private home rentals. We can get either one large home or two smaller homes; Depending on the number of people coming

Orlando in Summer 2012

So we are planning a Orlando trip in Summer of 2012. We are using codeword - "visit Kenney" as a way to talk about it when little ears are around.

As Mom (Debbie - will be using first names so that we all know who it is we are talking about) has suggested I am updating with the information that we have as of now.

Date: We are looking at July 24th - July 30 which is a Tues through Monday I figure it might be cheaper flights for everyone who is flying vs a weekend - weekend.

Place: We are thinking about renting a private home, which would have a private pool and gathering places as well as a fully equipped kitchen. Save money by cooking our own food.

Debbie has suggested we set up committees to deal with all of the aspects for this family reunion.

Head Chair Person - Debbie

Finance Subcommittee - Margaret has BEEN volunteered.

Food Subcommittee - Sharon

Activities Subcommittee - ?
I think this one is pretty self explanitory about activities to do in Orlando, but I guess it wouldn't hurt for someone to be in charge of it.

Communtication Subcommittee - Sharon (blog) everyone else through email

Photography Subcommittee - again - Margaret has BEEN volunteered, but make sure we all bring cameras.

Accommotation Subcommittee - ?
Sharon has provided information already about a private home rental company, but we can decide later. Kenney and Heather can provide Onsite Evaluations.

Welcoming Commmittee - Heather/Kenney have been volunteered.

Please feel free to volunteer to head up a committe. The more people we get involved, than the more people we can get to come.

Please also make sure that Sharon has all of your contact information. You can email her at
